Have a crush on Krrish
Krrish 3
Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut, Vivek Oberoi, Rajpal Yadav, Mohnish Behl
Rated: 7/10
Ok guys, it is a different Krrish this time — handsome of course, but more importantly, renewed by technology, quite splashy with his antics and totally fabulous in the VFX zone. But in all this splashy splendour orchestrated in minutest detail by Rakesh Roshan over three years, also lies a slight problem — all this Hollywood makeover, this wide-angled pan shots which you see in movies like Jurassic Park, this heart-stopping highrise jumps and the gravity defying aerial antics, somehow, take away from the human element in the film.
Even Spiderman has to go through some emotional ones but Hrithik, the chiselled body wonder in this one, somehow sleepwalks through this aspect, this Diwali. Yes, he is stunning, becoming and what not and also lives up to being a superhero but there is very little of him in the film. His water-dangling green eyes are stunning, his dress is awe-inspiring and his long blondish hair take him to that alag kism kaawesome zone but, really, one wishes there was more song and dance around him, more chemistry in his love life, more daddywallah pyar etc.
Instead, Rakesh Roshan gives you a heady mix of VFX, a never-before kind of take on technology in Bollywood. It is apparent that he and his team have worked hard on this and there is also no denying the fact that the end result is pretty good. There is also no doubt that this must have cost him all his time, patience and money. And that may be one reason why both papa and beta are so passionate about this film which should logically have been Krrish 2 but is titled Krrish 3. Never mind, superheros have the ability to jump from God knows where all, and this is just one number in a series!
In simple terms, this is the verdict on Krrish 3: At best, it is Bollywood’s hitech wonder, at worst, please forgive me, but just a me-too Hollywood thingie.
Other than that, for Bollywood to work on the audience, the film needs good music and songs, both of which were missing in the film — as were those groovy (dance) moves by the superhero himself.
But then, there was Vivek Oberoi as the baddie. He is good, he is in fact really good in Rakesh Roshan’s hands and maybe as Kaal he can reinvent himself. Kangana Ranaut, the super sexy mutant called Kaya, also shapes up well and in all zones. Her dilated eye, long tresses and square jawline may give out a hint of Ek Thhi Dayan but the make-up artist too needs to be applauded for newness.
On the whole, Krrish 3 is a futuristic effort which will go down in Bollywood history as that film which got the best out of Bollywood in true Hollywood style. It needs to be seen for the splash that it makes in this area.
