Race 2: Quite a race to finish

Rippling male bods, pumped up musclemania, blood-thirsty streetfighters, men racing cars, jetsetting in luxury private aircraft, clinking glasses on swish yachts and being lambi race ka ghorha themselves, beefcakes doing women as and when, women gyrating to their tune in skirts shorter than smiles in war country, slick locales, slicker editing and peppy music — yes, Race 2 is peppy, racy and extremely seductive in intent. It is a youthful movie for young minds and entirely Abbas-Mustan.
Abbas-Mustan, to a considerable extent, have lived up to expectations for this sequel which has a thrilling storyline, too, to go with all the post modern props on display.
John Abraham, as the ultimate bad man, worships his dirty money as much as he worships his beautiful body, so much so that in the end, he is not left battered as a villain usually is. It seems, Abbas-Mustan are worshippers of his presence too, like most girls in the cinema hall who were oohing and aahing every time he shed his shirt, which was pretty much in every other scene.
The girl around him, Jacqueline Fernandez, is sexy too — what with her kohl-lined eyes, red lipsticks and micro minis with halter tops beginning and ending in quite a hurry.
But it is Deepika and her classy persona in hot but elegant clothes who takes the cake with her skimpy presence and dimpled cheek. Saif is the man of the moment though despite not being anywhere in comparison to John in bodily presence.
Altogether an engaging fare far far away, of course, from any kind of meaningful cinema. But then, that is not the A-M genre.

Criminal: Arresting memory transplant

Cast : Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones, Ryan Reynolds, Jordi Mollà Rated : 6/10 Big names, big imagination and good execution make this memory transplant thriller a good one to be with, especially with Kevin Costner doing a pretty good job with a character he has never played – that of an emotionless, incarcerated, brutal killer in whose brain a do-good, wife and daughter loving dead CIA’s agent’s (Ryan Reynolds) remembrances are inserted for a trail that is important for the organisation. The underdone role has been handled well by Costner, much like a successful experiment. As he gets acquainted with emotions of love, caring and affection that have been alien to him, he starts turning from a monster to a human being but the director does well to not completely erase his original personality. Staring:  Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris, Jeremy Reyner & Rebecca Ferguson Rated : 8/10 Last time Ethan Hunt had your jaw dropping and you praying fervently for his life when mounted the sky scraping Burj Khalifa in Dubai to dangle from dizzying heights. This time, he does the same — and in all earnestness — when he dangles from the outer door of a military aircraft carrying nerve gas all those 20,000 feet high swaying with terrifying winds, hanging on to dear life literally with his finger nails.
